Matthew Kren, DVM

Dr. Matthew Kren is an Associate Veterinarian at Land O’ Lakes Animal Hospital. His veterinary journey began at St. George’s University, and he ultimately earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, Dr. Kren was selected for the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program, which gave him the honor of serving as a Public Health Officer in the U.S. Air Force following veterinary school.

After a fulfilling career in the military, Dr. Kren was ready to return to his original passion: caring for dogs and cats. He and his family also wanted to make their way back to the East Coast — preferably somewhere they would never have to shovel snow again! They have proudly called the Tampa Bay area home since 2015.

One of Dr. Kren’s favorite things about general practice is that no two days are ever the same. Dogs, cats, and their owners keep him constantly learning and laughing. His professional interests include preventative medicine, dentistry, and behavior, and he particularly enjoys helping families take a proactive approach to keeping their pets healthy.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Kren enjoys golfing, gardening, carpentry and woodworking projects, running, and spending time with his wife and two children. Their family is completed by two wonderfully crazy rescue dogs and one sweet cat.

For Dr. Kren, the variety of veterinary medicine is what makes it so rewarding — whether he is performing a dental procedure, discussing preventative care, working through a behavioral concern, or simply getting to know a new patient and their family.
